THE NATIONAL COMPETITION 2018

The National Competition is the UAE premier event that celebrates the outstanding Emirati talents in technical and vocational skills inspiring the young generation to get passionate about new trades and embrace technology based career pathways. Annually the Competition attracts UAE Nationals, both young men and women, to compete in the field of craftsmanship and technology and be evaluated by a technical committee and internationally accredited experts based on the standards and judging criteria of WorldSkills organization.

WHY COMPETE IN THE NATIONAL COMPETITION?

The National Competition is a once in a lifetime experience for young budding talents to challenge their peers in the chosen category and be awarded the best of their chosen discipline. The National Competition represents a valuable opportunity for highly skilled students and youths to demonstrate their abilities and to develop an attitude to competitiveness that will motivate them to constantly improve their skills and to strive for better achievements.
The National Competition is really a stepping stone for a rewarding career as a skill champion. It qualifies for the selection of the team members that will represent UAE in the regional and international competitions.
In addition to the significant rewards in cash prizes EmiratesSkills provides the highest achievers with an extensive applied training in UAE and abroad through a network of experts, local public and private entities, industry partners and TVET providers. The Advanced Training Program includes workshops designed to enhance the competitors' skills up to the standard required to compete in the National Team at regional and international level.
Annually the Competition attracts UAE Nationals, both young men and women, to compete in the field of craftsmanship and technology and be evaluated by a technical committee and internationally accredited experts based on the standards and judging criteria of WorldSkills organization.

Skills

OFFICIAL SKILL CATEGORIES *skills that are aligned with WorldSkills Competition

(Winners are eligible to compete in WorldSkillsGCC and WorldSkills Competitions)

The prospective competitors shall meet the following criteria:

  • UAE National
  • Minimum age 16 years old
  • Age should not exceed 21 years (born in 1995 or later)
  • Age should not exceed 24 years (born in 1992 or later) for Aircraft Maintenance, Mechatronics and Information Network Cabling

OTHER SKILL CATEGORIES

(Winners are NOT eligible to compete in WorldSkillsGCC and WorldSkills Competitions)

  • All Traditional Skills
  • Creative Media Production
  • Public Speaking
  • ETIC - Khalifa University
  • Skills under Zayed Higher Organization
  • Junior skills

The prospective competitors shall meet the following criteria:

  • UAE National
  • Minimum age 16 years old
  • Age limit: 21 years old (born in 1995 or later)

Terms & Conditions:

  1. Prospective competitors can apply several times up to the allow age limit
  2. Winners of WorldSkills Official Skill Categories can compete again (one time only) in the other skill categories (Non official) and vice versa.

JUNIOR COMPETITIONS

The prospective competitors shall meet the following criteria:

  • UAE National
  • Minimum age is 12 years old
  • Age limit: 15 years old (born in 2002 or later)

Terms & Conditions:

  1. Competitors who participated in the National Competition and didn't win, can apply again, as long as their age is meeting the criteria.
  2. Winners of Junior Competitions can compete again (one time only) in any of the Official Skills Categories once they meet the minimum age criteria (16 years old).

GENERAL RULES & CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

All participants should comply with the following terms and conditions:

  • It is mandatory for competitors to submit the Emirates ID and a personal photo to be eligible to participate in the competition. Scan documents and photos submitted in the online registration form should be clear and readable.
  • Incomplete applications or with unclear documents will not be accepted.
  • Personal photo shall be up-to-date.
  • Competitors can't appeal against the decisions of the selection committee and the final results.
  • The Organizing Committee reserves the right to modify or change any existing set time or date (such as registration deadlines, winners announcement and any other related matters).
  • There is no entry fee to enter the competition.
  • Competitor is not allowed to talk to any person during the competition time except his/her experts.  EmiratesSkills will notify the winners when and where the prize can be collected.
  • Competitors agree to the use of his/her name and image in any publicity material.
  • EmiratesSkills might disclose personal data of Competitors to a third party (industry partners and sponsors) without the entrant's prior consent for the purpose of training, work placement, and employment.
  • Entry into the competition will be deemed as acceptance of the above-mentioned terms and conditions.

NOTE: Please note that the awards categories are based on mark range.

 

Terms & Conditions

EmiratesSkills invites to participate into the National Competition all male and female nationals from all job occupations and study level (Schools, institutes, colleges, universities and professionals) that possess the required skills in the considered technical and vocational categories.
